About Pick n Pay Stores

Pick n Pay Stores is one of South Africa's largest grocery retailers, operating supermarkets, hypermarkets and convenience stores under the Pick n Pay and Boxer brands, plus clothing and online shopping. Boxer, its fast-growing discount grocery chain serving lower-income shoppers, has become a key value driver and was partially listed separately. Listed on the JSE, Pick n Pay earns thin retail margins on high food volumes, so its performance tracks consumer spending, food inflation and competitive intensity against Shoprite, Spar and Woolworths. After a period of financial strain, the group has been restructuring and recapitalising to restore the performance of its core supermarket business.
