About British American Tobacco

British American Tobacco (BAT) is one of the world's largest tobacco and nicotine companies, with a secondary JSE listing and deep historical ties to South Africa. It manufactures and sells cigarettes and a growing range of 'new category' products — vapour, heated tobacco and modern oral nicotine — under brands such as Dunhill, Lucky Strike, Vuse and Glo, across markets worldwide. A large, defensive, dividend-paying multinational, BAT offers JSE investors rand-hedge exposure and high cash generation, while facing structural decline in cigarette volumes and regulatory pressure that it is countering by shifting toward smokeless nicotine products.
