Sanlam Travel Insurance Review 2026 — Rateweb

Important correction: Sanlam does not currently sell a standalone, purchasable travel insurance policy on sanlam.co.za. If you're looking for travel cover, you're likely thinking of either a free member benefit through Sanlam Reality, or a separate company — Santam — which does sell a standalone travel insurance product. These are two different companies (Sanlam and Santam), despite the similar names, and it's an easy mix-up. Verified in July 2026.

What Sanlam actually offers

Sanlam Reality Access members get a free international travel benefit for trips up to 45 consecutive days, covering emergency medical and related expenses up to R5,000,000. This benefit is underwritten and administered by Travel Insurance Consultants (TIC), a division of Santam Limited — not sold as a separate Sanlam policy you can buy on its own.

If you want a standalone travel policy: Santam

Santam — a different, separately listed company — sells its own purchasable travel insurance product, starting from R150, covering medical expenses up to R120 million, plus cancellation and baggage cover.

What to do

  • Already a Sanlam Reality member? Check whether your Access tier qualifies you for the free international travel benefit before buying a separate policy.
  • Need a standalone policy for a specific trip? Get a quote directly from Santam, or compare travel insurance providers more broadly.
